Category: Ford focus boot release fuse

I have ford focus sedan One day I pressed the Trunk Release on my key and blamo Had to crawl thruough the back seat and pull the release cord in the trunk. The Focus was purchased from the Ford dealer on Dec. I have to take to dealer for repair and don't want to be taken advantage of.

Any Advice would be appreciated. Thank You, Marlese. Basically, the loom in the trunk has a sharp bend and it tends to weaken the wire s. Try checking this location for any visible issues with the wires.

The location is on the passengers side, in the trunk, near the rear deck. You may need to pull off the electrical tape to tug wires individually. Hope this helps GuruV answered about a year ago.

Yes, Thank you for your reply. I found that on you tube. The wires in my focus looked fine. So Dealer here I come. At least here will be suggestions before the diagnostic fee. Darn electric cars anyways. There is a message that pops up everytime car is started "Trunk Ajar". GuruV5CR4 answered about a year ago. Electronic trunk release had stopper working on my Focus.

A pain since only way to open was through backseat emergency release. I checked the wiring harness in the trunk as you recommended and there is was. A broken wire! Used a twist connector and bam.

Trunk worked great. Thanks so much. Great fix! Guru1TR7D answered 7 months ago. GuruQ19TP answered 4 months ago. This was the exact fix for my Went out, and as soon as I pulled the emergency latch, I could see the bare wire sticking right at me. FORD, you need to recall this, this is ridiculous!

Do I have to go to the dealer or is there a way I can figure out the correct wire to reattach?By smartestsmartyMay 28, in Ford Fusion Club.

I purchased a Ford Fusion, everything is great with the car, but the rear boot will not open without manually inserting the key. Also, if anyone could tell me where the fuse box is and the fuse number for the boot, I would greatly appreciate it.

ford focus boot release fuse

It sounds like a fuse, Sorry can't help you with that oneor possibly the boot release solenoid that's at fault, the only way to tell is to get to the electrics at the solenoid and use a test meter to see if there is power to it when the dash button or remote button are pressed. The fusebox is behind the glovecompartment, open the glovecompartment, push the sides in en open it further. At the back of the glovecompartment is a sticker with the fuseplan.

Think it must be the solenoid in my case as you can hear the 'schnick' or whatever sound a solenoid makes but it's too weak to pop the boot. Any ideas how to find it? Presumably in the spare wheel well or thereabouts?

Hi there all. My Fusion has just today done the very same thing. It was ok when I went out this morning, but, by the time I came back. Not only can I not get into the boot with the master key.

ford focus isues with luggage release button

It won't let me in via the dash board push button mechanism. I know this may sound a little silly, but, I didn't know that the boot release would have its own fuse? I've got this same problem today. The boot latch won't open via button or key fob.

I can press the button and see the latch move slightly but not enough to open the lock. The boot will still open via the key as normal. My embarrassing, I'm not a mechanic, question is, how do you remove the boot trim so I can check for part numbers. I removed the three screws but the plastic is till firmly in place. I presume there are plastic clips somewhere that need an extra pull?Ad vertisements. Bill answered 2 years ago. Is there a way to replace the entire wire assembly? All of the wires have cracked or completely separated and I'm not having good luck getting them sliced together.

Most auto's have separate junction areas that do un-plug from the main wire harness. Find where yours is and replace it. GuruVHHT2 answered about a year ago.

2014 ford focus trunk wont open

I googled looking for an answer to the trunk on my Focus not opening and this popped up first. I opened the trunk from inside the car, looked at the right side and there was the broken wire staring right at me. A little wire cut and splice and all is well again.

Sassydiva answered about a year ago. If you can get in the trunk, it is most likely the wire. Pop the rear right panel and look for the broken wire. Twist the wire together, wrap it with electrical tape and it should work again.

Closed it and happened again a few mins later. Now happens randomly. When using the fob to unlock doors, the boot no longer unlocks and the button under the "flap" doesn't either, it will only unlock using the boot button on the fob. Question is, what is the fuse number that controls this switch, so I can temporarily remove it to stop the random unlocking whilst driving? If anyone can help with up to date info that would be great : Cheers.

Its the actual boot switch thats failed - the one under the rubber flap that you press to lift the boot. I wouldnt be pulling the central locking fuse if im honestcan see that ending in tearsjust unplug the switch from the boot lock but you might as well just change it I wouldnt be pulling the central locking fuse if im honestcan see that ending in tears So that fuse would also be the central locking one, didn't think of that.

What issues do you think it could cause taking that fuse out? Like i said unplug the switch from boot lock which will stop it opening unexpectedly until you can replace it.

I've got the same problem, boot opens on fob boot button but not on door button. Not sure what to try next. You can post now and register later.

I can open it manually from the boot however. Also it is missing the rubber seal on the boot this may or may not be important. This looks to be quite a common issue, does anyone know if i need to replace the whole lock unit or does the missing rubber seal play some part doubtful. If, as i suspect it is a new unit required, do i HAVE to get it configured to work with my central locking or will it be ok to just open it with a key? Money's to tight to mention so the cheapest option is what's required for now.

Good point But the boot release is linked with the central locking. So unless Dave's central locking isn't working as well, it can't be the fuse. I only know this because I had to change the central locking fuse this week. So, i took it to a garage for it's MOT and they have suggested that most people only use the button on the dash or key fob, never the key. I'm gonna try a whole can of WD40 in the lock and see if that gets it moving.

I'm on a personal crusade to stop people spraying their car locks full of WD Its got its uses and it solves some problems but long term it can make things a whole lot worse. Whatever you spray it on becomes a magnet for dust and filth if you don't wipe the excess off afterwards which you can't, in a lock. It also causes swelling in PCB joints so get it anywhere near anything electrical and you're skating on thin ice.

If you've got a rusted on bolt or something or a squeaky door hinge, then WD40 is the tool for the job, but otherwise, steer clear. Its a much cleaner and safer option as its designed for electrical connections etc, removes dirt and increases conductivity, and doesn't knacker up any PCBs it gets near. I'm a bit confused by the "in lock or remote" bit. Do you mean you can open it using the key in the lock but just not remotely?

If so I would say it's a problem with the lock motor or wiring. One possibility is that a wire has fractured where it flexes going through the rubber grommet between body and tailgate. While it's generally true that Yale-style locks should only be dry-lubricated using graphite powder for example I have found that if the pins are already sticking there may be no alternative to wet lubricant to get them free.
